SENIOR SOCIAL MEDIA COACH

Monica Albers

What did you do before you were a Miner?

+ I started working in social media at a tech startup, which taught me so much about the ins and outs of the platforms, traffic strategies and data analysis. Before that, I worked in local journalism as a TV news producer — a great opportunity to learn how to write, work under pressure and always make deadlines!

Share your favorite client memory.

+ Some of my favorite Media Minefield memories have happened while covering in-person events for social media. It’s a great opportunity to spend time with a client in person, get to know their audience even better and grab ALL the assets to use on social!

What is your favorite quote?

+ “Believe you can and you’re halfway there.” – Theodore Roosevelt

If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be?

+ I would love to instantly learn other languages. My Italian Duolingo has been a much slower process!

What’s your favorite way to relax and recharge?

+ I love spending time outside. Taking my dog for a long walk and finding a spot to read or journal always helps me feel refreshed.

What’s your favorite family tradition?

+ I’m originally from the Chicago area and spend the week between Christmas and New Year’s there. Our extended family gets together on Christmas, and I spend time with my parents for a few days. Then, I head downtown to have a night out with my sister before a group of our friends arrives from around the country. We’ve gone out to parties, had nice dinners and stayed in over the years, but it’s always a time I look forward to all year!
