What did you do before you were a Miner?

I worked as a news producer for about six years at local TV stations in Sioux Falls, S.D. and Indianapolis, Ind., before pivoting to social media at an Indiana tech company. It’s been great to learn new skills and gain experience in different kinds of media and comms!

What do most people not understand about the news?

I think most people don’t realize how committed news staff are to their communities and to storytelling. It’s not a glamorous industry – these folks work so hard and make a lot of sacrifices for a job that’s often thankless, but is, in so many ways, a public service.

If you could be anywhere right now, where would it be?

After college I spent time visiting family that live on Arranmore Island, off the western coast of Ireland. Everyone was so warm and friendly, and it was so beautiful, rustic and peaceful there. Would love to go back!

What do you do for fun?

I love to read, find new restaurants and spend time outside — especially with our miniature schnauzer, Woody!
